Devonport Yacht Club is a family-oriented boating and sailing club with an active social calendar. We run a full programme of cruising, round-the-buoys, and short-handed races often followed by social events onshore and at the clubhouse.
We welcome people of all ages and boating experience to join us — from nil to novice to top notch. And you don’t have to be a boat owner, we have membership options to suit everyone and social events open to all members such as salsa evenings, educational Sea Talks, prize-giving dinners, laying-up and fitting-out suppers, Christmas carols and an annual Christmas party.

Full membership is intended primarily for boat owners, though non-boat-owners may apply. Full members may use all the Club’s facilities, register their boat at DYC, and fly the Club burgee. Subject to certain Club Rules, they may hold office at the club and vote at Annual and Special General Meetings.
Associate Membership (Family and Individual)
Associate membership is intended primarily as a social membership for non-boat owners. They may hold certain offices at the Club, subject to the Club Rules. They have full access to enjoy the Club from Thurs thru Sunday and receive discounted hall hire rates. Associate members are not eligible to use the slipway, hardstand or associated equipment, or dinghy lockers.
June is when we issue invoices for members’ annual subscriptions. At last year’s AGM it was resolved to increase subs for all membership types to help cover the club’s rising costs, e.g. the club’s insurance costs increased 18% from 2022-2023 and are expected to go up again this year.
The subscription rates for 2024-2025 are as follows:

However, a discount is offered to existing members who pay promptly, i.e. within 28 days following the date of invoice. If you pay the amount (equivalent to last year’s rate) shown in the small print on the invoice within 28 days, the club will waive the outstanding balance.
If you don’t pay within 28 days, then you miss out on the discount and must pay the full amount shown at the bottom of the invoice.

DYC is an Affiliated club to Yachting New Zealand — the national sport organisation for yachting. As part of our affiliation, every DYC member can get a digital membership card via the YNZ app. The digital membership card substantiates your membership of DYC and of YNZ.
The YNZ app also gives you access to discounts from several useful suppliers, just by showing your YNZ digital membership card! There's no charge — this is a FREE benefit available to all members.
You can also use your YNZ digital membership card when you register for events with other YNZ affiliated sailing clubs.
Create an account on the YNZ app using the email address you used when you became a DYC member (probably the one you receive this email on)
Click the 'members' section on the app
The next screen you see is your 'YNZ digital member card'
Show your digital card at participating stores to get your discount
At the time of writing, there are 15 merchants offering YNZ affiliated members some sort of discount. They’re all different!
If you're having difficulty accessing your YNZ member page or member card, please read this page on the YNZ website and contact their co-ordinator, Beth, who will help you out.
All Full and Associate members are encouraged to attend. The bar will be open before the meeting from 4:30pm as usual, closed during the meeting, and open again afterwards.
